Levels and XP
Everything you do well teaches you something. Each skill has its own level, from 1 to 99.
How it works
Doing a thing gives XP (experience) in the skill it belongs to: cutting a log gives Woodcutting XP, and a blow in a fight gives XP to the skill of your attack style. When a skill has enough XP it goes up a level.
Higher levels make you better at the skill and open up more of the world. Better trees, richer rocks and stronger gear all ask for a level first. The skills page says what each one opens up.
Every skill starts at level 1, except Hitpoints, which starts at level 10.
How far is it?
Each level takes more than the last. The climb grows steeper the higher you go:
| Level | Total XP |
|---|---|
| 2 | 83 |
| 5 | 388 |
| 10 | 1,154 |
| 15 | 2,411 |
| 20 | 4,470 |
| 25 | 7,842 |
| 30 | 13,363 |
| 40 | 37,224 |
| 50 | 101,333 |
| 60 | 273,742 |
| 70 | 737,627 |
| 80 | 1,986,068 |
| 90 | 5,346,332 |
| 99 | 13,034,431 |
Your combat level
Your combat level sums up your fighting skills. It comes from your Defence and Hitpoints, together with your Attack and Strength. Beside an opponent's name, it tells you how you compare. How combat works has more.
